The New York French-American Charter School is looking for a school leader.

Principal
The next leader of the NYFACS must be able to demonstrate that s/he has the experience and expertise to move a school from its current status to one of high performance and success for all.
Education and experience requirements
- Master’s Degree
- Experience in school leadership at the early childhood/elementary level is strongly preferred
Other requirements:
- Experience in urban schools is preferred
- Excellent skills in oral and written English
- Knowledge of oral and written French is a plus
- Thorough knowledge of the New York school system and, in particular the mandates and requirements of the New York Department of Education relating to charter schools
- Knowledge of the French educational system is a plus
Communication
- Engages in clear, constant multi-directional communication with the school community
- Is comfortable using multiple modalities of communication
- Oversees a monthly newsletter to be sent to families and uses other methods of communication when appropriate
Curriculum implementation and evaluation
- Knowledge of all areas of the New York State standards
- Facilitates team work across grades and subject areas
- Implementation of the American teaching methods, where applicable
- Implementation of the French method of teaching, where applicable
- Has prior knowledge of, and experience with, student assessments
- Evaluation of student learning through formative and summative assessments
- Knowledge of the use of data to inform and improve instruction.
School culture and community
- Understands, accepts and celebrates the mission of the school
- Engages and energizes a community of learners
- Maintains a positive school tone
- Maintains student discipline and communicates discipline guidelines and procedures to the entire school community
- Values and facilitates lifelong learning for the entire school community
School/program integration
- Supervised the maintenance of all school records
- Develops relationships with outside groups or agencies providing enrichment activities and summer programs
Administration
- Uses budgetary and human resources in a strategic manner to meet the goals of the school
- Supports all fundraising
- Evaluates staff members
- Supervises administrative staff
Board of trustees
- Attends all meetings of the Board of Trustees except for those during which her/his performance is being discussed
- Gives the Board a complete picture of the school, its challenges, problems, and needs
- Will present a dashboard with basic data to board members prior to each meeting
